Librarians are ready to provide the following services to assist faculty with integrating information literacy into your curriculum:
Faculty members are welcome to request a hands-on customized library instruction session tailored to the specific topics, themes, or research assignments of your class. Simply fill out and submit one of the following library instruction request forms for each class. If you would like to review the various information literacy skills that can be covered in a session, please check our Guide to Research at JSRCC Libraries. Please give us at least one week notice to prepare for your class. Thank you!
We highly recommend that you require your students to take the library assessment after the session.
Librarians offer open session workshops ranging from basic research skills to using Microsoft Word throughout the year. Please encourage your students to sign up for these workshops to enhance their information literacy skills. Consider offering extra credit to those students who attend these workshops or as a makeup session for those students who missed library instruction scheduled during a class period. Feel free to print out a flyer for distribution in your class or refer your students to register online:
Librarians will work with you to create customized course guides tailored to specific research assignments or topics covered in your class. These course guides can be linked from your Blackboard course sites.
If you would like to discuss this option further with a librarian, call 523-3333 (Downtown Campus) or 523-5325 (Parham Campus). You are welcome to view course guides from previous semesters.
Librarians have created various guides, handouts, and worksheets to assist students with their research and developing information literacy skills. Feel free to link any of these resources from your Blackboard course sites.
We have created the Assignment Alert Form for you to notify us of the specific assignment/topics covered in your class. This will help us identify available resources in advance and direct your students to the resources more efficiently. We would appreciate it if you can take a minute to fill out the form to help us better serve your students.
If you have any questions, feel free to submit your suggestions or questions online or call 523-5333 (Downtown), 523-5329 (Parham), and 523-5419 (Western).
