Are food or drink allowed in the library?

Food and drink are allowed in Reynolds Library, but not at the library computers, per Reynolds policy 4-3. Library users who violate these restrictions will be asked to take their food or drink outside the library.

Can non-Reynolds affiliates use library databases?

Non-Reynolds affiliates can only use the library electronic databases in the library. No off-campus access is available.

Can I place an item on hold and have it sent to my home campus?

Holds may be placed on all circulating books that are currently checked out or are located at another Reynolds campus library. You must have a Reynolds student ID to place holds. To place an item on hold, start at the library catalog. Find the book you are searching for and then click on request this item.Request this Item

 

 

 

Then make sure to select the pick up location for the book.

Yes, you can return Reynolds library materials to any Reynolds campus library.

Can students reserve study rooms?

Group study rooms may be used by Reynolds affiliates for academic and college-related activities. Read more about study room policies here.

Do you have scanners?

Yes, self-serve photocopiers and copies also have scanning capabilities. You must have a jump drive on you, in order to scan documents. Scanning onto a jump-drive is free.

Does the library have a photocopier for public use?

How do I get a library card to check out materials?

Students, faculty, and staff can check out materials using their Reynolds ID cards. Virginia state residents not affiliated with Reynolds must show their Driver’s License/State ID to apply for a community card at the circulation desk before checking out materials. Non-Reynolds individuals are the only ones that need a separate card.

How many items can I check out at one time?

Students may have up to 15 items checked out at one time. Community patrons may check out up to five items. See Loan Polices for more information.

Does the library offer instruction on how to use library resources?

Yes, the library offers workshops for improving your research skills throughout the year. See the Workshops page for descriptions, schedules and registration.

Does the library have a fax machine for student use?

No, the library does not have a fax machine for student use. However, the library has scanners that will allow any patron to save scanned documents to a USB drive. Once saved, the documents can be e-mailed using a library computer. Please seek a Reynolds librarian for help.

How do I get materials from a different library?

Need an article not in the databases? Found the perfect book at VCU? Reynolds Library offers multiple options to obtain materials: Cooperative Borrowing, RALC Pass and Interlibrary Loan. These services are only available to current students, faculty and staff. Check If We Don?t Have It for more details.

How do I access library databases from off-campus?

You can use your MyReynolds user-name and password to access library databases from off campus.

How do I renew a book?

Books may be renewed online, or, during library hours, in person or by telephone. To renew online, sign into the Renew Books link with your MyReynolds account. Click on loans number. The items you have checked out will be displayed. Click on the item you want to renew. If you books are not overdue, you are eligible for renewal. If it is eligible for renewal, you can click Renew. You will be taken back to your list of checked out items and the new due date will be displayed. If you cannot access your account, please call your library circulation desk: Downtown: 804.523.5211, Parham: 804.523.5220, Goochland: 804.523.5419. Ask the staff to check your campus location in your account.

What is the loan period for library materials?

Books and Audio-books: 4 weeks (28 days) with the possibility of one additional 4-week renewal. DVDs can be checked out for one week. We do renew DVDs for an additional week as long as they are not overdue. Some materials may have special loan periods. See Loan Polices for more information.
