Mr. James Satchell (prefers being called Satchell) is appointed as the Coordinator of Library and Media Services at Goochland Campus effective Sept. 25th, 2015!
Satchel is a native of Richmond Virginia. He attended the Richmond Public Schools and was a proud graduate of Maggie Lena Walker High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Hampton University and his graduate degree in Library Science at North Carolina Central University. He has served as a librarian on many educational levels. He served as Social Science Reference Librarian at Virginia Commonwealth University, Library Media Specialist in the Richmond Public Schools, Campus Librarian at Rappahannock Community College, Social Science Reference Librarian at Virginia State University, Coordinator of Libraries for the Virginia Department of Correctional Education, and Coordinator of Access Services at Norfolk State University. In 2012, he participated in the Harvard Institute for Academic Librarians. He have also taught Cataloging, Reference, Media and Technology, and School Library Administration for Virginia Commonwealth University School of Education. In his spare time he enjoys cooking and gardening. Librarianship is a service oriented profession. He is passionate about providing quality service and empowering clients to become effective and successful library users and information seekers.
